Today is Valentine's Day! I'm happy to have such a lovely Valentine in my life. Sadly, we're not able to celebrate this day together since I'm in Korea. However, I promise next year will be so much better. I love you, Lynn!
Did you know that Koreans celebrate Valentine's Day too? Well, it is kind of interesting. They buy into the commercial hype too. However, it is a day when only women give chocolates and gifts to their significant other. Strange, huh? Where is all of the love for women? (It's at the pizza places... Just joking. See the picture below.)
Once month later, on March 14, is
White Day. This is the day when men shower their significant other with gifts usually consisting of white chocolate, cookies, candy, and white stuffed animals. (For the single people, April 14 is known as
Black Day in Korea and Japan.
As a Valentine's Day gift from nature, I awoke to a blanket of snow outside. The snow just kept falling all day. I was shocked to learn that it was actually
Korea's heaviest snowfall in over 100 years. The ironic part is that all of the Koreans here say it NEVER snows in Ulsan. I think it is funny that January is on record at the coldest month since the early 1960s and we have broken snowfall records. Thanks, Siberia!
