America Idol: Top 3

Wow... we're already down to the Top 3 on Idol. Thankfully, Adam Lambert James Durbin was sent home last week. This week, we have Beyonce as a guest mentor for the finalists. Each contestant must sing 3 songs.

Round 1 - Songs chosen by the finalists

  • Scotty McCreery - "Amazed" by Lonestar - Job well done. He's not the best singer, but definitely confortable on that state and in his skin.
  • Lauren Alaina - "Wild One" by Faith Hill - She had a lot of fun with that and showed a lot of confidence. However, I did think she was holding back some.
  • Haley Reinhart - "What Is and What Should Never Be" by Led Zeppelin - Awesome. Haley certainly is not holding back anything. She is fearless and rocked it out!
Round 2 - Songs selected by Jimmy Iovine
  • Scotty McCreery - "Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not" by Thompson Square - This actually worked much better than his first song choice. Another job well done.
  • Lauren Alaina - "If I Die Young" by The Band Perry - She sings like a seasoned performer. She's definitely the best singer this season. Minor mistake aside, Lauren is fantastic.
  • Haley Reinhart - "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac - PERFECT song choice for Haley. I've always liked this song and Haley did a great job performing it.
Round 3 - Songs selected by the judges
  • Scotty McCreery - Steven Tyler selected "She Believes in Me" by Kenny Rogers - EXCELLENT. Scotty completely owned that song and displayed his range of abilities.
  • Lauren Alaina - Jennifer Lopez selected "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack - She beautifully danced all over that song.
  • Haley Reinhart - Randy Jackson selected "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morissette - ANOTHER excellent song choice for Haley. I've loved this song since I was a little kid and she did a fantastic job.
Who won each round? Round 1 - Haley. Round 2 - Lauren/Haley/Scotty. Round 3 - Lauren/Haley. I'm literally shocked with Haley because she irritated me in the beginning of the season. Fortunately, she learned to control her voice. If she makes it to the Final 2... she has a chance to win.
