Songs that inspires the contestant:
- James Durbin - "Don't Stop Believin" by Journey - Honestly, I didn't feel his connection to this incredibly popular song. He sang it very well though.
- Haley Reinhart - "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson - I think Haley did the best job fulfilling this task. The judges didn't seem to agree. If the judges wanted her to pick a more popular song, they should have made the requirement to choose a popular song that inspires others.
- Scotty McCreery - "Where Were You" by Alan Jackson - Scotty remained true to himself and the image he has consistently presented. He loves Jesus and he loves God.
- Lauren Alaina - "Anyway" by Martina McBride - Incredible. Definitely in it to win it.
Songs from the Leiber & Stoller songbook:
- Haley Reinhart - "I (Who Have Nothing)" - Perfection. The entire performance was superb. Haley has gone from zero to hero in my book. I sincerely hope she doesn't go home this week.
- Scotty McCreery - "Young Blood" by The Coasters - Someone was definitely having fun tonight. He and Lady Gaga were hilarious together during the coaching session.
- Lauren Alaina - "Trouble" by Elvis - Excellent up until one spot near the end. That was an overall great performance.
- James Durbin - "Love Potion No. 9" - Great, but not amazing. Fun, but not exciting. He really did display his ability to sing anything though.
