Many of you might have previously heard about Texas Governor Rick Perry's latest initiative: A Call to Prayer for a Nation in Crisis. Although I do sincerely commend some of the intent behind it, the event is sponsored by the American Family Association. The Southern Poverty Law Center has labeled the AFA as a hate group due to their active discrimination of the gay community and Muslims. Prominent leaders in the faith-based community are now joining in opposition of Perry's event as a way to show they don't support hate. It is good to see so many speaking out against hate and this foolish, potential presidential candidate.
Here's the best part of Perry's recent activity:
Gov. Perry decided to go on Fox News and compare himself to Jesus. Yes, that's right. When asked about why a growing number of Texans are criticizing him, he said, "...a prophet is not generally love in their hometown." This is a Biblical reference to Mark 6:4.
My response: Matthew 7:15 -- "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
