I've purposefully avoided mentioned specific about the job search on my blog until now. Didn't want to jinx anything... After months of applying for jobs and driving hundreds of miles to different interviews, I was finally offered a job today! That's right -- I'm going to be the new Volunteer Coordinator at the
Dallas Museum of Nature & Science. The best part is that it is a career-related job! Also, I get to work with a great team of people. The museum boasts a great collection, fantastic exhibits &
paleontology lab, excellent public programs, an IMAX, and a planetarium. Next year, we'll even be relocating to a
brand new, state of the art building in the Victory Park area of downtown Dallas.
I'll be supervising and working directly with volunteers at the museum during regular hours, major events, and family festivals. One of my first big tasks is to help update and better organize the volunteer management system. Time to update myself on
Volgistics (a popular volunteer management computer software).
