Trip to the Dallas Zoo.

It has been at least a decade since I last visited the Dallas Zoo. Back then, my parents and I were not impressed at all. The animals were in outdated cages several sizes too small. It seems those sentiments were shared by other in the community. Since then, they Dallas Zoo has taken steps to rectify that situation by opening a new section from the larger African mammals. It was nice to see their active approach to providing a bigger and friendlier living space for all of the animals on exhibit.

Yesterday, I took Lynn on her first visit to the Dallas Zoo. Since we had a Groupon deal, it only cost us $1 per person to get in. She seemed to really enjoy it. The weather was a little chilly, but the day turned out quite nice. We walked around the zoo for a couple hours, animals watched, rode the monorail, and then at lunch downtown at a nice Tex-Mex restaurant named El Fenix.

Check out how this elephant is relaxing.
The giraffes could walk right up to the visitors overlook and eat lettuce leafs.

It's an axolotl! So cute!

This is on the monorail in a part that you can't get to on foot. There were some pelicans perched on the edge of a waterfall.

Flamingos for my mom. :)
