Last Thursday night, I drove down to Austin for Lynn's big day on Friday. After years of studying, she finally had her moment in the spotlight. I was so proud watching her walk across that stage. The ceremony was really pleasant too. My favorite part was hearing them announce Lynn as as a doctor. Although I played chauffeur and leader of the pack all weekend, everything turned out quite well. Also, we got to eat Jim Jim's Water Ice and visit my old museum.

On Saturday morning, we attended Lynn's cousin's graduation ceremony. However, it turned out my good friend Ashlee was graduating at the same time. Afterward, we went up Mt. Bonnell, Austin's extinct volcano. That proved to be interesting because Lynn and I didn't realize her grandmother was coming along too. Thankfully, there was a place near the bottom for everyone to eat our bahn mi, Vietnamese sandwiches. Actually, all of our meals throughout the weekend were at Viet/Chinese restaurants. (Thanks to Lynn's parents! They actually paid for all of the meals for all 20+ people.) The big commencement ceremony on Saturday night was fantastic. Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was the guest speaker. He gave a perfect speech about public service and giving back to our communities.

On Sunday, Lynn's mom insisted she and I drive back to Dallas together. Before heading out of Austin, we went to UT campus to take some graduation pictures. Also, we went back to Jim Jim's (my favorite!) and Butler Park. On the way back from Austin, we stopped for lunch in Waco and picked up some snacks at the famous Czech Stop in West, Texas.
One thing I'll miss from last weekend is waking up and eating breakfast with Lynn at the hotel every morning. That was really nice.
