American Idol: Top 6

Were you surprised by the results last week? I wasn't. After several weeks of Bottom 3 appearances, Stefano Langone was finally sent home.

This week is another week and we're down to 6. The theme this week is all about Carole King. She's extremely well known and a great songwriter. However, I fear that the younger folks won't connect easily enough. Each contestant will sing a solo song and then a duet with another contestant. Here we go...
  • Jacob Lusk - "Oh No Not My Baby" - Same old performance by Jacob. Nothing special. Vocally
  • Lauren Alaina - "Where You Lead" - Gilmore Girls! Did anyone else think that too? Aside from that connection, I think Lauren did a fantastic job. She's very talented.
  • Casey Abrams & Haley Reinhart - "I Feel the Earth Move" - There were some off moments in the first half, but I liked it overall. Their personalities meshed well and they really looked like they were having fun.
  • Scotty McCreery - "You've Got a Friend" - One of the best performances of the night. Perfect display of his vocal ability.
  • James Durbin - "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" - The other best performance of the night. I'm not the hugest JD fan, but he is always consistent and reliable with his singing and surprising song choices.
  • Lauren Alain & Scotty McCreery - "Up on the Roof" - These two are cute together, but this was a dull performance.
  • Casey Abrams - "Hi-De-Ho" - Ok. I'm officially tired of Casey. He adds too many little vocal tricks to his songs. Just sing.
  • Haley Reinhart - "Beautiful" - It seems like Casey and Haley have traded places in my preferences. She is growing on me and he is irritating me. She quit growling so much and has started to sing.
  • James Durbin & Jacob Lusk - "I'm into Something Good" - Awkward. Aww, they just left JLo sitting there by herself. Those outfits weren't flattering either.
I think the Bottom 3 should be Jacob, Casey, and Haley. It is so difficult to decide on a who might win this season. I don't think it will be Haley or Jacob, but it might be too soon to say. My favorite is obviously Lauren.
