| Royal engagement photos -- Prince William and Kate Middleton |
It is funny that I'm so excited about their wedding. It is full of bells and whistles, lavish decorations and elaborate plans. Most of my family and friends know that is far from I'd ever want. To be honest, I think it is all a waste of time and resources. Wait, wait... before people start rioting, let me explain. A wedding is a huge milestone in a couple's life together. It should be celebrated, but shouldn't need to cost an arm an a leg... or one's sanity. In general, I think people should have smaller, simple weddings (ceremony, reception, etc...). There is no need to stress yourself more by needing extravagant wedding plans. Spend that energy and money in alternative ways. Use the extra money on a honeymoon, put it in savings, or use it as part of a down payment on a new house. Instead of spending weeks/months planning a humongous ceremony, the couple should use the extra time volunteering together for worthwhile cause.
As for William and Kate, they deserve to celebrate like kings and queens. I wish them the best and hope they have a wonderful life together.

Rachel Ray had someone the other day who had a $20,000 wedding for only $6000 dollars, of course she was an extreme couponer, but it is possible. I agree to have a celebration, but going broke is not worth it. Then the American tradition is that the bride to be's parents pays for the wedding. The grooms parents do the rehersal dinner. Thank goodness I have boys! I would rather put a down payment on a house than spend all that money on a wedding.
