(Part 2 of my 3 day weekend)
Sunday was another fantastic day out and about. The Eonyang bunch took the bus up to Gyeongju again to explore some more of Korea's historical capital. Originally we were going to rent bikes for the day, but opted to walk instead. Our first stop was one of the
Tumuli parks. These are the GIANT burial mounds where some royalty and the elite were buried centuries ago.
We continued trekking around the city in search of
Cheomseongdae. I was very excited to find it too. After learning about this in college, it meant a lot to see something from my studies in person. Cheomseongdae is the oldest astronomical observatory in Asia and one of the oldest scientific installations on Earth (according to Wikipedia).
We walked and walked and walked some more (probably a few miles) in order to find the train station. With all of that walking, the back of my neck managed to get sunburned. Instead of going directly back to Eonyang, we took the train to downtown Ulsan to have an Indian dinner. I love
chicken tikka masala!
