Can you believe it has already been 5 years since Meredith Vieira replaced Katie Couric on NBC's The Today Show? To be honest, I was hesitant about her at first. I literally grew up watching the show and couldn't believe Couric (who was on from 1991-2006) was leaving. Meredith grew on me though. She revealed a down to earth personality and always seemed to have a fun attitude about everything. She's leaving to spend more time with her family. Although she'll be doing some projects for NBC news, I hope she enjoys her well earned time off.
The best part about Meredith leaving is that Ann Curry finally gets to be The Today Show's co-anchor. She's been working up to this for almost 15 years. Not only is she the 2nd longest serving news anchor on the show, but she is one of NBC's few journalists who have anchored 3 or more shows on the network (Today, Nightly News, and Dateline). On a few occasions, she even anchored all three in same day! That's dedication.
Good luck, Meredith! Congrats, Ann!
PS - If you missed Meredith's final show, you definitely missed a great one.
