Recently, many people have asked: Why does Harry Potter mean so much to me? -- Where do I begin? Words can't fully or truly describe my emotions or sentimental attachment to the wonderful wizarding world of Harry Potter. The story has meant so much to me for the past thirteen years of my life. From the first moment my parents urged me to pick of Sorcerer's Stone, I was hooked. It provided an escape. It satiated my need for journey and excitement. It invigorated my passion for reading and writing. The list could go on and on. Some part of me has always been fascinated with boarding schools (my other favorite books seem to reflect this: A Separate Peace, The Catcher in the Rye, Looking for Alaska, etc...). The fantasy genre has always intrigue me too. If you combine the two, you get Harry Potter. Harry's world is so intricately crafted that I could easily get lost in wonderland. It became and has maintained itself as a steady rock in my life.
On a more tangible level, this fictional universe has become reality on many levels. Many of my friends were made simply because of our common liking of the Boy Who Lived and mutual disdain for He Who Must Not Be Named. I've even bonded with people I've never met in person... and even consider them to be a friend. Another tangible example is reflected in my writing. Very few people have seen my work, but I have a great deal of pride in what I've created. J.K. Rowling, author of Harry Potter, single handedly inspired me to write. She had faith in her story and simply wrote. Look at her now. I'm not seeking fame or fortune, but merely a platform to share my own story. Someday, the world will read it. Lastly, I've grown quite fond of the subgenre of music -- Wrock or wizard rock. It is all music (of any style) based on the world of Harry Potter. Most of it is quite catchy.
Well, this was originally going to be about the final movie. It somehow morphed into my emotional outlet. I'm sad this was the last movie, but happy I'm always able to open the books. The story never truly ends...
Thank you, J.K. Rowling... and thank you, Harry Potter. You've eternally inspired this wizard.
